They should also consider running the 171, as well as the 111 all day during the week with extended hours on Friday night. As well as Saturday evening service (similar to the way Metrorail operates).

There should also be a stop for the 803 at Burnet and Kramer to providebetter transfer access between 803 and Metrorail as currently you would have to walk from the Domain station.

The fares for the Metrorail should be zoned again one zone should be premium and all zones should be commuter.

What gets me is that the people in Austin always complain about traffic in Austin yet when they had the proposal for the urban rail they didn't vote for it because they didn't want to pay for it. You can't have it both ways people.

Capital metro should not have reduced the frequency of the 3 the 803 doesn't go on Manchaca. Why should they have to wait longer when they don't have the option of the 803. Capital Metro needs to help fight traffic in Austin by providing mass transit, high capacity transit like some transit systems in Europe.

The southbound section is the side that needs this desperately inputted.

Vote

They should put a crosswalk between the transit center and the shopping center where target is. Some people take the bus to Tech Ridge and then they walk over to the shops. This would provide a safer way to cross the street going in either direction.

Will Will if you rode the 801 you would see that it is packed during peak hours and I am pretty sure that paying the premium fare isn't more than the cost of owning a vehicle.

They should also have a railconnecter from Downtown Station that runs on Congress and one that runs on Brazos and Colorado.

Vote

Taxed enough already, why are you so against Project Connect? First off ive been on their website and it looks like a well laid out plan and could very well work. Secondly, if capmetro wanted people to walk farther would they have put every downtown bus{ except 100} on Lavaca/Guadulupe? And some major companies have a bus going out to them like 3M, Dell, IBM, and AMD.

Vote

Increasing transportation options like having Project Connect is NOT a waste of money, granted it costs a lot of money but it will be worth it in the end.

We need more local buses, more rapid buses AND more rail systems in areas that they're needed in if we ever want to see our traffic conditions improve.

I have been on the metrorail during peak hours and sometimes theres standing room only. Especially when theres a special event in town like SXSW sometimes people at stations have to wait on the next train because its so packed. Now I will say that if they started the train earlier on Saturdays that could really boost ridership and redue our traffic.

Vote

I agree that MetroBus is less expensive to run but WE NEED BUSES AND TRAINS if we want to see Austin traffic improve.

Vote

Taxed enough already lots of people take the train. During peak hours it is packed. Would I be correct in assuming that you've never ridden the Metrorail?

Vote

If it wasn't for the train and bus going out to Leander there would be even more traffic on the road.

Vote
Default_avatar

First off I think more ridership equals more money for capmetro. I also believe that 238 should serve Bowie H.S. and serve Slaughter Ln. all the way down to Mopac so those people have more transportation options.

Vote

If they started running the rail earlier on Saturdays and at least had the 982 running I think that it would really help the traffic congestion on 183 and in the downtown area.

Vote

If they were to start the rail around noon and if it had descent ridership they could later try starting it around 10:00 A.M. possibly.

I don't get why CapMetro cant have a bus to Buda/Kyle if they have a bus to Leander, Lago Vista and even Manor and Elgin!

Vote

Whats so wierd about it is Leander, Lago Vista, Manor and Elgin are WAY further from downtown Austin than Buda is.

Personally I think Project Connect is a great idea, because it actually could help reduce time wasted in Austins rush hour traffic. However I do agree that some routes need adjusting, like the 311, should be coming more often than every 45 min. during peak hours.

Vote
Default_avatar

This is the same concept as with the 1 and 801. The 803 will be a great idea but some people will still have to rely on the 3 to get places because the three goes places that the 803 does not.

Vote

I hear that they're going to adjust the frequency of the 1 the 201 and the 275 starting on June 8.

The number 1 should come at least every 20 minutes on weekdays and at least every 30 minutes on weekends.

Jarrod Jarrod over 3 years ago on Connect 243 with 275

The 243 should be extended to 183 with more stops along the way including McNeil High School and should have the frequency at every 30 minutes{for now} at all times not just peak hours.

Vote
Default_avatar

The schedule for the 3 should be kept the same because some people may not be able to take the 803 to get to where they need to be but would have to use the 3. For instance if you u live on Manchaca u would have to take the 3 to get to the 803 and your wait on the 3 would be longer. So the schedule for the 3 should stay the same when the 803 is launched.

Vote

will will why are u so against rail systems? do u want traffic in Austin to improve or not? yes im aware that its expensive but don't u think that it would pay off in the end?

Jarrod Jarrod over 3 years ago on More frequent 1 buses

I agree that the frequency of the 1 is not the best and that its always packed full of people. The frequency of the one needs increased because the 1 goes places that the 801 doesn't.

The rail systems that are proposed in Project Connect should run 7 days a week. They should also put more bus service south of Southpark Meadows.

Vote

Providing MetroRail service 7 days a week all day would be awesome as it would increase transportation options and attract ridership.

I personally love the idea of the metrorail and I think its a necessity if we ever want to see traffic improvement. However some changes, fare wise should be made for on they should put back the zones and they should put the reduced fare options at the ticket vending machines again.

The 243 needs to come more frequently becase sometimes its layovers are longer than they need to be.

I think running the 982 on Saturday is a great idea because the people who use the Pavilion P&R could take the 982 instead of having to take the 383 and having to transfer to another route to get downtown.

Vote
Default_avatar

Some routes like the 311 probably would have more riders if they came more frequently. By Crockett H.S. in the afternoon there's a bus that comes by at 4:16 and the next one does not come until 5:00. Do they not realize that this is during the middle of rush hour?

Re-installing downtown railconnecters is a good idea. They should put one on Guadalupe/Lavaca ,one on Congress and possibly one that serves Brazos and Colorado.
