Each year, Capital Metro invites riders and other central Texans to offer feedback on our proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. We believe that this year's budget reflects Capital Metro's commitment to efficient operations and high-quality transit options for our community.

For background information on how we develop our budget, we recommend watching this webinar. The video describes the process behind our agency's budget development, as well as the context for our plans at Capital Metro for Fiscal Year 2015. More information, including a copy of the FY2015 Budget Book, can be found here. This site also describes further opportunities to provide input at our public hearing, open houses, and an additional webinar.

Please provide your input about this year's budget! We look forward to your comments and questions.

Budget highlights:

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·   <!--[endif]-->After years of hard work, careful planning and tough choices, we continue to strengthen our financial position.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·   <!--[endif]-->Our proposed FY2015 budget is balanced, our operations are efficient and we are more committed than ever to providing high-quality transit options for Central Texas.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·   <!--[endif]-->We are not satisfied with the status quo. Over the next year, Capital Metro will invest nearly $82 million in infrastructure improvements. Those investments will lay the foundation for enhanced service today and tomorrow.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·   <!--[endif]-->We are spending money from the fund balance to ensure our tax dollars come back home. By working with the federal government to satisfy local matching fund requirements as part of grant awards, we’re bringing federal dollars back to Central Texas and we’ll put it to work for our community.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·   <!--[endif]-->We care very deeply about providing access to our services to all of our customers. Since 2011, Capital Metro has contributed $1.2 million to the Basic Transportation Needs Fund. This will help ensure that everyone who needs a ride, has one.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·    <!--[endif]-->Capital Metro is proposing a balanced budget for a total of $322.1 million.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·    <!--[endif]-->The agency proposes to spend $222.8 million on operating expenses, $4.6 million for loan repayments and $12.8 million for interlocal agreements.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·    <!--[endif]-->We propose spending $43.2 million from our reserves to meet the requirements for local matching funds in grants and other projects. Despite this expenditure, we are well on our way to meeting reserve requirements of two months of prior year operating expenses in 2016, as set forth by the Texas Legislature.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·    <!--[endif]-->We project our fund balance to stand at more than $59 million at the conclusion of the FY15 fiscal year next September.
